The 7th Meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Transport of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Azerbaijan.
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı attended the meeting.
In his speech at the meeting, Minister Arıklı stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is an integral part of the Turkic World, and therefore, the TRNC wants to take part in every field in which the OTS operates and further develop relations.
Giving information about the country’s economy, Arıklı emphasized that the goal is to further the development of the TRNC.
“Our goal is to place informatics and trade alongside tourism and higher education in order to increase the welfare level in the country and have signed important projects to achieve this goal. Our ultimate goal is to make our country a centre in civil aviation and a reliable transit country in maritime transportation” said Arıklı.
Reminding that the application made to the Secretariat last July for the inclusion of Gazimağusa Port in the ‘Sister Ports’ Program of the OTS, Arıklı said, “The expectation of the Turkish Cypriot people is that the request of the TRNC to be included in the Sister Ports Memorandum of Understanding will be met positively.”
