Minister Arıklı evaluates his visit to Ankara to the BRT

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı is holding a variety of contacts in Ankara the capital of Türkiye.

Evaluating his contacts to the BRT, Minister Arıklı said that from now on, niche products produced in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be sold at the online shopping platform PTTAVM.

He noted that in this way, products specific to Cyprus will be marketed not only to Türkiye but also to the world.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı met with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu in Ankara.

Evaluating his meetings to the BRT, Arıklı said that during his meeting with the Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır they discussed which projects should be focused on in order for the TRNC to become an IT island and voiced his goal of wanting to turn the country into a techno park.

Referring to his meeting with the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu, Minister Arıklı said that Uraloğlu was well aware of the infrastructure problems in the TRNC.

He said during their discussions on the problems being experienced at government offices, Arıklı stated that all deficiencies will be eliminated as of October.

Touching upon his meeting with the Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Arıklı stated that they discussed the projects to be carried out in the coming period ahead and that he asked for support from Yılmaz in this direction adding that the tunnel project is one of the most important of these projects.

He stated that a meeting will be held in the coming days ahead.

Emphasizing that one of the most important results of his visit to Ankara was the decision to sell niche products produced in the TRNC in PTT shopping malls, Arıklı said that products such as Tarhana (sundried soup with wheat), carob flour, carob molasses, Molehiya (Dried Jew’s mallow) and olive oil soap specific to Cyprus will be put on sale during the first phase.

“Our women will become a cooperative and produce. We have the full support of both the Turkish Minister of Transportation and the Turkish Vice President on this issue. We will market our products not only to Türkiye but also to the world. We will both enable our women to participate in economic life and open a separate economic door for the TRNC,” said Arıklı.

Also touching upon the issue of privatization of ports Arıklı said, “All 3 of the 3 ports will be privatized. We will receive technical support from Türkiye on this issue.”
