The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı announced via his social media account that all the necessary permits have been obtained for the establishment of a local airline company.
Stating that the local airline company will start scheduled flights as of April, Arıklı said that they expect ticket prices to become cheaper in the competitive environment that will occur with the launch of the new company.
Arıklı noted that they had been thinking about how to reduce the prices of airfares for some time now and that upon the instruction of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, together with the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu they had held some contacts in Istanbul.
Noting that they had met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkish Airlines and discussed ways to reduce ticket prices, Arıklı said that efforts are also being made to reduce the ticket prices of students coming to the TRNC, and for the same discount to be extended to military families as well.
