The Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı, met with his Turkish counterpart Abdulkadir Uraloğlu on Wednesday.
Minister Arıklı stated that completing the remaining part of the Northern Ring Road would significantly ease traffic.
Turkish Minister Uraloğlu said that the development of a country’s transport infrastructure directly contributed to the nation’s overall progress.
Meeting with his Turkish counterpart, the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı reminded that Uraloğlu, who previously served as the General Director of Highways, had made significant contributions to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Expressing their intention to work together to find solutions to transportation and infrastructure issues, Arıklı stressed that the groundbreaking for the remaining part of the Northern Ring Road would greatly ease traffic.
Turkish Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu for his part stated that the development of a country’s transportation infrastructure directly contributed to its overall progress.
Stressing that transportation was particularly crucial for island nations, he added that there were ongoing collaborative efforts related to communication.
Uraloğlu also pointed out that the Ercan Airport project, which operates on a build-operate model, had made Cyprus a ‘role model.’
Noting that the 362 weekly flights were significant for Ercan Airport and that this number should increase, he stressed that, based on passenger numbers, Ercan ranks among the top 10 airports in Türkiye.
Minister Uraloğlu concluded by stating that the development of these projects would enhance the TRNC’s tourism, economy, trade, and overall growth, adding, “As a Ministry, we are only happy to contribute to such projects.”
