Minister of Health Ali Pilli on Thursday said that the newly inaugurated Emergency Hospital in Lefkoşa will become fully functional within a few weeks time.
Pilli spoke to the TAK news agency on the new pandemic hospital which was inaugurated on the 37th-anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC.
He said that the hospital will be initially operating as part of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital but will later function as a completely separate facility.
Minister Pilli said the new hospital has a capacity of 100 beds, 64 individual rooms, 24 intensive care units which can be extended to 48 and 12 emergency service beds.
The modern facility also includes six operating theatres, and is equipped with an advanced model MR machine, a computerized tomography machine and other state-of-the art equipment prepared to deal with all kinds of emergency situations.
Pilli added that the Emergency Hospital which will operate with five ambulances donated by Turkey and was constructed to treat COVID-19 patients will later function as an ER service, once the pandemic is over.
