The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a statement on the military cooperation and armament activities of the Greek Cypriot Administration.

The Ministry called on all relevant parties to act with common sense and international actors to stop encouraging the Greek Cypriot side.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused the Greek Cypriot Administration of South Cyprus of escalating its armament efforts with the support of strategic partnerships, namely with the United States.

The Ministry emphasized that this support poses a threat to the delicate balances in the region.

Recent reports suggest that South Cyprus is attempting to involve Israel’s air defense system in its own defense system and is considering NATO membership.

The Ministry criticized the European Union for unilaterally admitting South Cyprus into membership before reaching a resolution on the Cyprus issue, and urged the Greek Cypriot side to remember that the decision to expand the NATO alliance was unanimous.

The Ministry expressed concern that the increased armament activities by South Cyprus, under the pretext of a security threat, will lead to disaster for the entire island.

The Foreign Ministry called on all relevant parties and international actors to use common sense and to halt their support for the Greek Cypriot side.
