National Unity Party (UBP) MP İzlem Gürçağ Altuğra and Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Fide Kürşat attended the meetings of the Women Parliamentarians Group and Young Parliamentarians Group within the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States-TURKPA in Baku.

Addressing the participating countries at the meeting held at the Karabakh Hall of the Azerbaijan National Assembly under the main theme “Women as the backbone of the economy and the driving force of entrepreneurship in TURKPA member countries”, UBP MP İzlem Gürçağ Altuğra shared her thoughts.

Altuğra underlined that the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), is ready to cooperate and support the similar efforts of the member and observer member countries of the organization and to develop joint projects to ensure equal representation of women in all areas of society, including political processes and leadership positions.

Altuğra stated that the unjust isolation and embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people have deep and far-reaching negative effects, especially on youth and women.

She pointed out that the unjust embargoes and isolations imposed on the TRNC, an integral part of the Turkic world, can only be stopped by fighting together as the Turkic world family.

Also speaking, Republican Turkish Party MP Fide Kürşat

noted that the problems of young people are an important issue that shapes the future.

She emphasized that since there is no permanent solution to the Cyprus problem, political, social and economic isolation continues and this situation creates great concerns for young people who are thinking about their future.

“For years, our young people have been crushed under a sports embargo. Let’s purify sports from politics and reach out to the Turkish Cypriot youth through sports and pave the way for them” said Kürşat.
