
The first Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Mustafa Çağatay, will be commemorated on the 36th anniversary of his passing with a ceremony at his grave in Karaoğlanoğlu Cemetery this morning.
Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Ziya Öztürkler paid tribute to Çağatay on the 36th anniversary of his passing by issuing a message of praise and respect.
“We commemorate Mustafa Çağatay, the first Prime Minister of the TRNC and a distinguished statesman, with respect, mercy, and gratitude on the 36th anniversary of his passing.
His critical role in the establishment of our republic, his determined struggle, and his dedication to serving his people will always continue to guide us.
Mustafa Çağatay left a lasting mark in the memory of the Turkish Cypriot people not only with his political stance but also with his honest and visionary leadership and his identity as a jurist.
His devoted efforts and sacrifices laid the foundations of today’s strong and independent Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” said Öztürkler.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel also issued a message commemorating the late Prime Minister Mustafa Çağatay.
In his statement, Üstel emphasized Çağatay’s unforgettable contributions to the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for existence and the founding of the state.
He highlighted Çağatay’s service in key positions and noted that Çağatay defended the rights of the people and played a crucial role in shaping the state by making significant decisions.
“His struggle for a democratic, strong, and independent TRNC will always guide us. His statesmanship, principled stance, and dedication to his people continue to inspire us today,” said Üstel.
