German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Thursday he was pushing for an initiative to improve developments on the Cyprus issue.

Touching upon the Cyprus issue at a press conference following the European Union Leaders’ Summit held in Brussels, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that both Turkish EU relations and the Cyprus issue were discussed in a broad way.

He that progress is needed on these issues.

Stating that they discussed in detail about the development of connections at the summit, Scholz added, “Türkiye is an important strategic partner, which is not always easy but certainly important. Good cooperation is in the interest of both sides”.
