The ‘Olive Production, Manufacturing and Branding’ project event organised by the Büyükkonuk Olive Producers Agriculture Cooperative and financed by the European Union has come to an end.
The final stage of the ‘Olive Production, Manufacturing and Branding’ project was organised at the Büyük Konuk Olive Producers Agriculture Cooperative LTD on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Büyük Konuk Olive Producers Agriculture Cooperative Mustafa Haset noted that the project had been very fruitful and beneficial and thanked everyone who contributed.
Also speaking at the event, the General Coordinator of the Chamber of Turkish Cypriot Shopkeepers and Artisans (KTZEO) and Chairman of the Shopkeepers, Artisans and Producers Marketing Cooperative (EZ-KOOP) Hürrem Tulga reminded that the first olive harvest had taken place in 2018.
Tulga reminded that the Taş Değirmen Olive Oil (Stone Mill Olive Oil), a product of the Cooperative, is also being marketed to the Greek Cypriot side through the Green Line regulation.
European Commission Program Manager Pablo Abrecht also said a few words at the event.
Stating that the competitiveness and the food safety management standards of manufacturer’s had increased, Abrecht noted that production was now supported with technology and innovative business models.
The event came to an end with a promotion film and the presentation of the project.
EZKOOP’S “Taş Değirmen Olive Oil” succeeded to be the first processed food product to be sold through the Green Line to the Greek Cypriot side.
Sold under its original Turkish name “Taş Değirmen” (Stone Mill), the olive oil was the first product to successfully meet the EU Food Codex requirements and cross to the south of the island, through the Green Line Trade Regulation.
