President Ersin Tatar stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people continue to pursue their cause to live freely and independently in their own lands with dignity.

“The Western world is trying to force us to live under a federal roof in Cyprus. But we continue to cry out loud with all our might that there the only agreement that can be reached in Cyprus is a two-state solution based on the cooperation of two separate states living side-by-side,” Tatar said.

İsmail Sadıkoğlu, one of the founders of the Volkan Organization and the Turkish Resistance Organization, who made important contributions to the struggle for existence of the Turkish Cypriot people, was commemorated on Sunday with a ceremony held by his graveside.

President Ersin Tatar, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu and İsmail Sadıkoğlu’s son Okyay Sadıkoğlu and other family members attended the ceremony.

In his speech at the ceremony, President Tatar stressed that Hacı İsmail Sadıkoğlu was a freedom fighter, who contributed effectively to the struggle for existence of the Turkish Resistance Organization and the Turkish Cypriot people, guiding civil society life of the country with his entrepreneurship and human love.

“If we live on these lands freely and independently with dignity, we owe this to patriots like İsmail Sadıkoğlu. It is our duty to commemorate such important names, not to forget their services and to convey them to younger generations at every occasion. Our case continues. Our case is not over. But we continue to cry out loud with all our might that the only agreement that can be reached in Cyprus is a two-state solution based on the cooperation of two separate states living side-by-side. The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre who shared his memories of Sadıkoğlu said that Sadıkoğlu made great contributions to them during the years when they established the Nationalist Thought Association.

Stating that Sadıkoğlu’s spiritual values ​​were very high and his children protected the same values, Töre stressed that they will never forget Sadıkoğlu.
