The Republic’s Assembly on Monday approved the leader of the Peoples’ Party (HP) Kudret Özersay’s resignation from parliament.
As a result Kudret Özersay’s position as an MP has ended.
The General Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Parliament approved the HP leader’s resignation with a unanimous vote on Monday, officially ending his deputyship.
Özersay had earlier handed in his resignation following a decision by his party to withdraw from parliament in protest of the formation of the new government.
In a post on social media on Monday, the HP leader said that he was proud to have taken the first step in line with his party’s decision to withdraw from parliament.
“This is the first step, it’s the signal flare. The struggle begins now,” he said.
