Özkurt issued a message to mark Museums week, and noted that the BRTK, which has been making the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people heard for the past 60 years, brought to life in 2020.
In her message she stated that International Museum Day is a global day that takes place every year on 18th of May and is celebrated to raise awareness about the functioning and importance of museums in society.
Noting that Museum Day has been celebrated in Türkiye since 1982, Özkurt said that museums have the power to transform the world around us.
“As unique places of discovery, it teaches us about our past and opens our mind to new ideas, as two essential steps to build a better future” she said.
“In this context, we see the BRTK Broadcasting History Museum as our most valuable cultural heritage” said Özkurt and added that this museum was established with the awareness that the exceptional broadcasting tools used in BRT since 1963 deserve to be on display and tell the story of the past.
“This museum has a spirit that transfers the story and cultural memory of Bayrak radios and television channels to new generations” said Özkurt.
