The delegation from the Republic’s Assembly, which participated in the General Assembly meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, has completed its work.

The delegation, consisting of the National Unity Party (UBP) MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Armağan Candan, held a working meeting on the first day with the delegation representing the Turkish Grand National Assembly at PACE, led by Tuğrul Türkeş.

In a statement from the Assembly, it was noted that during the General Assembly, the Greek Cypriot MPs questioned the effectiveness of the Immovable Property Commission (IPC) and the legality of real estate sales in the country.

In response, the delegation from the TRNC Assembly explained in detail the Commission’s activities to MPs and diplomats from member states of the Council during both the General Assembly meetings and bilateral contacts.

The statement also added that the TRNC Assembly delegation held discussions with officials from the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe, providing them with updated information regarding the Immovable Property Commission.

PACE officials confirmed that the Commission remains an effective domestic legal remedy and stressed the importance of continuing its activities in this way.

According to the statement, delegation members Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu and Armağan Candan, in addition to attending the General Assembly meetings, also participated in working meetings of the Committees on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Political Affairs and Democracy, and Migration and Refugees.

Additionally, Hasipoğlu took part in the meeting of the European Conservatives and Democratic Alliance Group, while Candan attended the meeting of the Socialists, Democrats, and Greens Group.
