Panel held on preservation of cultural heritage

A panel on sustainable preservation of cultural heritage as well as a handicrafts exhibition was held on Wednesday within the framework of events marking Tourism Week.

The event at the Yunus Emre Institute which was attended by First Lady Sibel Tatar organised jointly by the Yunus Emre Institute and the World Peace University’s Continuing Education and Research Centre and WPU-TUGEM (Centre for Tourism Research, Application and Development.

Speaking at the panel, First Lady Sibel Tatar drew attention to the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

She said that more was needed to be done in the TRNC in this direction and that cultural heritage was also important in terms of tourism.

Tatar added that unfortunately there were a great number of sites of historic and cultural importance which were not being given the care and attention they deserve.
