Parl. delegation attends “Cyprus Facilitators Group” meeting in Geneva

A delegation from the TRNC Parliament participated in the “Cyprus Facilitators Group” meeting, held within the framework of the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the meeting, the delegation engaged in discussions with their counterparts on various topics and explored potential steps to enhance dialogue and cooperation.

The discussions in Geneva emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation between the parties, aiming to contribute positively to regional peace and stability.

Representing the TRNC Parliament at the meeting were Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, Secretary General of the National Unity Party (UBP) and MP for Gazimağusa, alongside Fikri Toros, MP for Girne and a Central Executive Committee Member and Foreign Affairs Secretary of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP).

The meeting was moderated by Laurent Wehrli, a member of the Swiss Parliament, and Hugo Carneiro, a member of the Portuguese Parliament.

In addition to the TRNC delegation, representatives from the Greek Cypriot parliament attended, including Averof Neophytou from the DISY Party, Aristo Damianou from AKEL, Christiana Erotokritou from DIKO, Alexandra Attalides from the VOLT Party, and Marinos Mousouttas from the Democratic Alignment Party.

The meeting provided a platform for dialogue, where the delegations exchanged views on various issues and discussed potential steps to further collaboration and understanding.

Following the meeting, the TRNC delegation was received by TGNA Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on several topics.

The TRNC delegation also attended a session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Parliamentary Union (OIC PU) Consultation Meeting, where TGNA Speaker Kurtulmuş delivered a speech.
