Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler on Tuesday received Tatlısu Mayor Hayri Orçan and a delegation led by a mayor from Kazakhstan in the Parliamentary Hall of Honor.

The visit underscored the importance of international cooperation and bolstering ties within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

Tuesday’s meeting was attended by TRNC-Kazakhstan Friendship Group member Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay and independent MP Hasan Tosunoğlu, emphasizing the significance of enhancing cultural, political, and economic relations.

Tatlısu Mayor Hayri Orçan highlighted the visit as part of the collaboration and brotherhood protocol between Tatlısu and its Kazakh counterpart.

Speaking warmly about the Kazakh delegation, Canaltay noted, “Seeing our Kazakh brothers, part of the Turkic nation, here fills us with strength and happiness.”

Tosunoğlu expressed his aspirations for deeper ties, advocating for expanded collaborations beyond visits, including sports, cultural exchanges, and trade partnerships.

Speaker Öztürkler emphasized the importance of advancing the TRNC’s status within the OTS.

“We became an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States in 2022 with Türkiye’s support. This has strengthened our cultural, political, and economic relations,” he stated.

Öztürkler stressed the need for Kazakhstan’s backing to transition from observer to full membership.

“We hope for continued support and cooperation to secure full membership and ensure a brighter future for the TRNC.”

The meeting concluded with the exchange of gifts, symbolizing the growing friendship between the two nations.
