Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Ziya Öztürkler, welcomed officials from the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) in a meeting held at the Parliament.
Öztürkler emphasized that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) deserves recognition for its history, natural beauty, culture, and people.
He highlighted the need to better promote the TRNC’s tourism potential, describing it as an attractive destination with its rich heritage, crystal-clear sea, golden beaches, and lush nature.
He noted that the warmth, hospitality, rich cuisine and traditional values of Turkish Cypriot culture offer visitors unforgettable experiences.
Tourism, he added, plays a critical role in the TRNC’s economy, contributing to international recognition and economic growth through the service sector.
Öztürkler criticized the Greek Cypriot Administration’s ongoing efforts to obstruct the TRNC’s construction and tourism sectors, affirming that such attempts cannot undermine the development ambitions of the Turkish Cypriot people.
“Even if the Greek Cypriot side tries to damage our tourism, we will continue to grow despite all obstacles,” he stated.
He also pointed out that tourism in the TRNC offers opportunities for intercultural exchange and peaceful coexistence, helping to share cultural richness and build international friendships.
TÜRSAB Vice President Davut Günaydın called their efforts to increase tourism to the TRNC a “national duty.”
