Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre announced that he will be paying a visit to the Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday to show solidarity and support to the Turkish nation.
A delegation from the Republic’s Assembly’s Council will be meeting with the President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop.
Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre took part on a program on BRT and evaluated the topics on the agenda.
Touching upon the recent earthquakes that devastated Türkiye Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre said that as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus everyone was going through a rough time due to the tragedy that took place in Türkiye and said that the time had come for everyone to make sacrifices.
Upon being asked a question regarding the Greek Cypriot parliament lowering its flags to half mast and holding a minute’s silence, Parliamentary Speaker Töre said that the issue must be looked at humanely not politically.
“Even though I do not compromise on my views and our national cause remains the same, we must look at this issue in a humane perspective. South Cyprus is our only land neighbour. There is mutual assistance. As the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly I acted with common sense and thanked them. If there is a similar situation, we would show our respect in the same way,” said Töre.
