The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre visited the Adıyaman province as part of his visit to Türkiye.

Töre held meetings with Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol and Adıyaman Mayor Süleyman Kılınç.

Töre then visited the GAP Journalists Association and met with journalists working in Adıyaman.

During the visit Töre touched upon the earthquake that hit the country on February 6, and noted the Turkish nation experienced great pain that will never find an ending.

Reminding that the committee formed in Parliament regarding the earthquake had previously carried out contacts in Adiyaman, Töre stated that they were pleased that the indictment regarding the Isias Hotel was presented and the judicial process has begun.

He said that they have full confidence in the judicial authorities of Türkiye, and emphasized that they believe that the judiciary will deliver a just decision.

During his visit to Adıyaman, Parliament Speaker Töre also visited the wreckage site of Isias Hotel where the Champion Angels Team lost their lives.

In his speech here, Töre stated that there were buildings in the neighbourhood that did not collapse and said, “This shows us that there are serious mistakes and structural defects in the construction of Isias Hotel. If proper buildings had been built here and throughout Adıyaman, Isias Hotel would not have collapsed.”

“More than 50,000 people lost their lives in the earthquake across Türkiye. May their souls rest in peace. The earthquake occurred in a very large area and the losses are very great. Türkiye is strong, hopefully these regions will be rebuilt. Those who are gone will not come back, but we want justice to be served. We don’t want such poorly built hotels, houses and buildings to be built again.”

As part of his contacts in Adıyaman the Parliamentary Speaker gave a conference.

In his speech at the conference organized by the GAP Journalists Association Union, Töre shared historical information regarding the events that have taken place in Cyprus.

“In order to prevent history from repeating itself and not to relive 1878, we, as the Turkish Cypriot People, protect the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the Turkish army, Motherland Türkiye and the whole Turkic world in the Eastern Mediterranean.”

Referring to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call for the recognition of the TRNC at the United Nations, Töre said that the participation of the TRNC as an observer member in the Organization of Turkic States gave them hope.
