Parl. Speaker Töre receives Binali Yıldırım

Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) and and President of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, Binali Yıldırım, was received by the Speaker of the Republic Assembly, Zorlu Töre on Monday.

During the meeting, Töre said that the Turkish Cypriot people shared the ideals and vision of the Turkish nation.

Yıldırım for his part pointed out that the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people was a violation of international law.

He also said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ observer membership in the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) was a historic development.

Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s AKP Binali Yıldırım was received by Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre on Monday as part of his contacts in the TRNC.

The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa, Metin Feyzioğlu, was also present at the meeting.

Parliamentary Speaker Töre, speaking at the meeting, drew attention to the strong bond that exists between Türkiye and the TRNC.

He said that the Turkish Cypriot people were deeply connected and devoted to motherland Türkiye, sharing a common history and interests.

Töre also highlighted the alignment of the Turkish Cypriots’ aspirations and ideals with those of the Turkish people.

He expressed the view that the TRNC’s observer membership in the Organisation of Turkic States has given hope to the Turkish Cypriots for the removal of unjust practices.

For his part, the AKP’s Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım said that the TRNC and Türkiye were one nation with two states.

He pointed out that the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people was a violation of international law and highlighted the historic significance of the TRNCbecoming an observer member of the Organisation of Turkic States.

He praised the determination of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in making this happen and emphasized the need to build on this important milestone.

Yıldırım mentioned that the TRNC’s observer membership opened up space for the TRNC in seven countries.

He said that he believed that as international embargoes are lifted, they will see the results and benefits together.

Yıldırım also brought up the importance of promoting the TRNC, recalling the call made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the United Nations General Assembly last year.

He concluded by saying, “This is a path that should be continued with patience and effort.”
