Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre has said that they will not give up on independence and sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He also said that the Turkish Armed Forces, responsible for the safety and security of the Turkish Cypriot people will never leave the island.

Töre was speaking during a visit paid to him by a group of Cyprus War Veterans from İzmir, Türkiye.

The head of the Izmir Karşıyaka Branch of the Republic of Türkiye War Veterans Association Halil Taşçı who spoke on behalf of the association during the visit said that they were happy to see the development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

He expressed the hope that the embargoes will be removed in order for the further development of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Parliamentary Speaker Töre for his part commemorated those who had fallen in the war and expressed his gratitude to the veterans.

He stated that the freedom enjoyed by the Turkish Cypriot people today was not easily won and that they will defend these lands until the end.

Touching upon the Cyprus Peace Operation, Töre emphasized that games are still continuing today, but added that they will keep the state alive no matter what.
