The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre received the former Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop and his accompanying delegation.

Speaking during the visit Mustafa Şentop emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot cause is a national cause for Türkiye.

Noting that they have made efforts to improve the relations of Turkish Cypriots with the world and reiterated that the national cause in question will always continue to be a national cause for Türkiye, Şentop said that what is happening in Palestine and Gaza today is an eye-opening situation for the whole world.

Noting that after the 1974 Peace Operation, peace and tranquillity prevailed on the island, Şentop said that the pro-Greek attitude of Europe and the world would not affect Türkiye’s determination on these issues.

The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre for his part reminded that during Şentop’s presidency, the TRNC became a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States and the TRNC and Turkish parliaments signed a cooperation protocol.

Stating that the Cyprus case is a national issue for Türkiye and that when the TRNC was declared, the “Cyprus issue” should have been closed.

Töre drew attention to the US and Europe’s support for Israel in the Israeli-Palestinian war and their failure to call for a ceasefire, and stated that the TRNC’s protector is Türkiye.

He said that the Turkish Cypriot people will never give up on the TRNC or motherland Türkiye.
