The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre said that the Turkish Cypriot people have expectations regarding their recognition from the countries that are friendly with Türkiye, especially member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

Speaking in an interview with Azerbaijan TNS News Agency, Parliamentary Speaker Töre said that even if the process for international recognition will take time, the Turkish Cypriots will continue to walk this path patiently.

Noting that they salute the statement made by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev who said that the TRNC flag will be present at all events to be held in Azerbaijan and thanked him on behalf of the TRNC Republic’s Assembly, Töre said that they want to further develop relations with Baku.

He also emphasized that they expect the same sensitivity from other Turkic Republics and noted that the TRNC exists even if the world does not recognize it.

Commemorating those who were martyred in the Khojaly Massacre and Karabakh, especially those who fell in the struggle for the establishment of Azerbaijan, Töre stated that their cause and path are one.
