Parliament resumes legislative year following three-month break

The legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus held its first session of the new legislative year on Monday, a symbolic ceremonial gathering of MPs.

a reception was held at the parliament building to mark the occasion following the meeting.

Parliament will hold its first ordinary session for the new legislative tomorrow.

Addressing the MPs, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre provided information about parliament’s activities in the previous term.

He said the committees continued to work during the summer break, sending draft laws to parliament for ratification.

Töre also urged all MPs to be more punctual during the new legislative year and to work on passing legislation vital for the country’s development.

The representatives and leaders of the political parties with seats in parliament also delivered speeches before a reception was held at the parliament building.
