The Temporary and Special Parliamentary Committee tasked with following the investigation and judicial process in Türkiye into contractors allegedly linked to the deadly İsias hotel building collapse completed its contacts in Ankara.

The delegation later moved to Adıyaman where they visited the site of the İsias Hotel which 24 students, four teachers, and eleven parents of the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College Secondary School volleyball team perished.

As part of their contacts in Ankara, members of the parliamentary committee headed by the UBP Gazimağusa MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu were received by the Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Earthquake Investigation Commission Veysel Eroğlu on Tuesday.

Eroğlu briefed the delegation on the report prepared on the İsias Hotel.

Also speaking during the visit, Hasipoğlu for his part touched upon the aim of their visit.

The members of the parliamentary committee were then received by the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop.

Speaking during the visit, Şentop expressed his condolences in the face of the losses in the earthquake.

“Your pain is our pain” he said and added that the investigations regarding the buildings destroyed in the earthquake are being carried out with great care.

The Head of the Delegation, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu for his part stressed that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) had stood by Türkiye in every dimension since the disaster of the century took place.

“The pain of motherland Türkiye is also our pain” Hasipoğlu stressed.

The delegation then met with the Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Justice Committee Abdullah Güler.

Touching upon the February 6 earthquakes in Türkiye, Güler praised the aid provided by the TRNC.

Hasipoğlu for his part stressed that in line with the possibilities of the TRNC, they were mobilized together with every individual in society.

Hasipoğlu also said that container houses had started to be shipped within this framework.

The delegation also came together with the Turkish Deputy Minister of Justice Yakup Moğol.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Justice, the delegation was briefed about the judicial process on the Adıyaman İsias Hotel and the investigations carried out in the earthquake in other provinces by Moğol and ministry officials.
