Parliamentary delegation attending PACE meetings

A delegation from the Republic’s Assembly is currently in Paris for the committee meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Two MPs from the TRNC parliament are representing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the meetings.

The parliamentary delegation, consisting of National Unity Party (UBP) MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu and Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Armağan Candan, participated in the works of the Culture, Science, Education and Media Committee, as well as the Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development Committee.

Additionally, they held bilateral meetings with Turkish and other country parliamentarians.

During their interactions, Hasipoğlu addressed the issue of the sports embargo imposed on Turkish Cypriots in the context of the Olympic Games, while Candan spoke about the activities of the Bicommunal Committee on the Protection of Cultural Heritage.

The delegation also engaged in bilateral meetings with parliamentarians from Türkiye and other countries.

CTP MP Candan will also attend the meetings of the Political Affairs and Democracy, Equality and Prevention of Discrimination, and Migration Committees.

The reports of the relevant committees will be discussed at the PACE General Assembly scheduled to take place in Strasbourg in January 2024.
