Parliamentary delegation in Ankara

The Republic’s Assembly’s Administrative, Public and Health Affairs Committee is holding a variety of contacts in the Turkish capital Ankara.

Within the framework of its contacts, the committee held various meetings at the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

The delegation headed by National Unity Party (UBP) Deputy Emrah Yeşilırmak embarked on its contacts with a visit to Anıtkabir, the Mausoleum of the Great Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk before moving on to the Turkish Grand National Assembly for a series of meetings.

The delegation first met with the Deputy Chairman of the Health, Family, Labour and Social Affairs Commission and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Bayburt Deputy Orhan Ateş and his delegation.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Chairman of the Republic Assembly Committee Emrah Yeşilırmak emphasized that the recent developments in the region and the strength of the Republic of Türkiye are of great importance for the people of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Stating that they want to share their experience on legislative activities, Yeşilırmak explained the legislative activities on the Committee’s agenda.

The Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Public Works, Zoning, Transportation and Tourism Committee Adil Karaismailoğlu also received the delegation.

Karaismailoğlu stated that they are always by the side of the Turkish Cypriots and that they fully support President Ersin Tatar and a two-state solution in Cyprus.

“It is time for the TRNC to be recognized, and we are voicing this on all platforms” said Karaismailoğlu, reminding that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had also expressed this at the United Nations General Assembly.

He pointed out that it is their greatest desire for the TRNC to take the place it deserves in the international community and said that they will continue to work in this context.

The Chairman of the Committee of the Republic’s Assembly Emrah Yeşilırmak touched upon the infrastructure and transportation works in the TRNC and emphasized that Türkiye’s investments in the TRNC are very valuable.

A member of the Turkish Parliament’s Public Works, Zoning, Transportation and Tourism Commission and Republican People’s Party (CHP) Deputy Sururi Çorabatır, who also attended the meeting, drew attention to the importance of tourism for the TRNC and said it is necessary to promote the island more as a holiday and business tourism destination other than anything else.
