As part of events marking the 49th anniversary of the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation and the 60th anniversary of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation, BRTK is giving life to a new project called “Peace at Bayrak.”
Within the framework of the project, various communication tools and equipment that are idle in the institution’s archives and warehouses will be revived artistically through the concept of recycling.
Artists and academics from universities across the country, as well as students, will contribute to the project, and workshop activities have already begun.
The opening of the exhibition, which will showcase the artworks created as a result of the one-month-long work, will take place at the corporation on July 19, within the framework of the events celebrating 1974 Peace Operation.
Ayhatun Ateşin, the curator of the BRT Broadcasting Museum, said that academics and artists will contribute their experiences to recycling/forwarding activities and creating beautiful works.
She said, “Visual communication students will also participate in the workshop activities, gaining knowledge and experience while enjoying the pleasure of learning.”
BRT Director Meryem Özkurt also emphasized the importance of Atatürk’s moto, “Peace at Home, Peace in the World,” stating that the Bayrak Radio Television has always reflected society by prioritizing recycling and productivity.
Özkurt stated that today’s technology is constantly changing and that tools and equipment needed to be adapted to present-day conditions, and that BRTK is the bridge between the past and the future.
