The “Contemporary Atatürk Photograph” exhibition, organized in honour of the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, is now open to view in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The outdoor exhibition, brought to life with photos from the Hanri Benazus Collection, which is the largest Atatürk Photograph collection in Türkiye with 20,000 photos, was opened in Girne last night.

The opening of the exhibition, led by Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul and organized with the contributions of some civil society organizations in Northern Cyprus, was attended by President Ersin Tatar.

Atatürk Photographs adorn the walls of the historic streets parallel to Girne Harbor, including Karaf House, the Old Casablanca, Tayfalar Sokak, and the back streets of the Historical Girne Harbour.

Hanri Benazus, who met the great leader Atatürk at the age of 7 during a visit to Aydın and turned his admiration into a passion, dedicated his life to telling the story of Atatürk, the War of Independence he led, his revolutions, his philosophy, and the circumstances under which he founded the Republic of Türkiye through the books he wrote, interviews, and conferences.

The exhibition from Hanri Benazus’s collection received great acclaim.

In his opening speech, Hanri Benazus emphasized that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a great leader and stated that he would continue to narrate the conditions under which Atatürk and the Republic of Türkiye were founded to repay the debt of the Turkish nation to Atatürk as long as he lived.

Benazus also gave a presentation on the 1923 Türkiye and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during the event and answered participants’ questions.

The event concluded with Benazus touring the exhibition with President Ersin Tatar and the participants and signing his books.
