Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu has called on citizens to get their Covid-19 jabs or booster shots as soon as possible.
Speaking during a visit by a delegation from the Cyprus Turkish Tourism and Travel Agencies Association, the Premier drew attention to the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases and said that those who have died from the virus were either not vaccinated or the immunity from their vaccinations had waned.
The premier said that among all the sectors, tourism had been affected the most by the pandemic.
Explaining that no changes had been made to the procedure at crossing points, Sucuoğlu also noted that they are working hard to overcome any problems that may be experienced at Ercan Airport.
Noting that the number of cases has increased in all countries in the Mediterranean region due to the arrival of winter, Sucuoğlu said that at this point the vaccine has gained more importance.
“We have vaccines, but people are refraining from getting vaccinated. If we were able to complete the vaccination process, maybe then we wouldn’t be talking about these issues at all,” he said.
