Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu on Friday said that the Turkish Cypriot people were part of the Turkish nation.
“We have never separated ourselves from motherland Turkey,” said Sucuoğlu who was speaking while receiving a delegation from the Turkish Economy Trade Association’s Sakarya and Istanbul branches.
Pointing out that the pandemic had hit the top two economic sectors in the TRNC, tourism and higher education, consequently affecting other sub-sectors, the Prime Minister said that the goal was to create alternative locomotive sectors following the elections in January next year.
“Our biggest goal is to create a TRNC economy that can stand on its own feet,” he said, adding that his party will be introducing a series of radical and sweeping reforms if and when it comes to power after the elections.
“The non-recognition of the TRNC, as well as the economic embargoes, is a serious problem but the time has come to turn this disadvantage into an advantage,” Sucuoğlu said.
He added that the TRNC will become an investment-friendly country and that they will do all that is possible to attract new investors and investments to the country.
