Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has announced that an initial protocol for the interconnectivity project with Türkiye will be signed in the Turkish capital Ankara in the coming days.

The leader of the National Unity Party and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel made important statements at an event held in Lefke.

Prime Minister Üstel pointed out that the coalition government had started fulfilling every promise it had made just one year after coming to office.

Stating that they were implementing projects of historical importance for the TRNC with the support of Türkiye, Üstel said that they once again felt concrete support during the visits of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

Reminding of the plans to open the new Ercan terminal and runway on July 20, the prime minister said that that the opening of the new airport would not only be good in terms of leaving first good impression for arriving passengers but will also make a significant contribution to the country’s economy as well as reducing ticket prices.

Üstel also said that a historic step has also been taken to bring electricity to the TRNC from Türkiye via cable.

“Let’s give the good news. We will sign the preliminary protocol in Ankara in the coming days. Power shortages and cuts will be a thing of the past. We will ensure consumers uninterrupted supply and open the door to alternative energy,” he said.

Prime Minister Üstel also mentioned that social housing, rural land plots, and low-interest credit programs will continue for young citizens.
