On the first anniversary of the Gaza occupation, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a poignant message of solidarity, emphasizing the need to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Reflecting on the past year, he expressed deep sorrow for the pain and trauma experienced by innocent civilians in Gaza and called on the international community to take immediate action.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Prime Minister Üstel remarked, “For a year, we have witnessed the heartbreaking cries and immense tragedy faced by innocent people in Gaza. Unfortunately, we still continue to observe this situation.”
He highlighted the urgency of addressing this tragedy, reminding everyone that with each new day, humanity must recognize that this situation must come to an end.
Reiterating the unwavering support of Türkiye and the sincere sentiments of the Turkish Cypriot people, Üstel stated, “We once again shout to our brothers in Gaza that they are not alone.”
He made a powerful appeal to the international community and all those with a conscience to work towards ending the occupation, allowing Palestinian brothers to attain peace and freedom.
“This occupation must end, as innocent civilians have had their lives turned upside down and basic human rights have been violated. The time has come for bloodshed, tears, and injustice to cease,” he asserted.
Üstel stressed the necessity for a permanent peace to be established in the region, which he described as an essential step not only for Gaza but for the peace of the entire world.
The premier extended his wishes for patience to the people of Gaza, affirming, “As the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, we stand by you always. I firmly believe that we will build a brighter future together in unity and solidarity. Our hearts are, as always, with you.”
