In a message marking the 49th anniversary of the National Unity Party (UBP), Prime Minister Ünal Üstel praised the party for its modern, secular, innovative, and visionary approach, which has led to numerous victories and major reforms in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Referring to UBP as “the sun that has illuminated the country and its people for 49 years,” Prime Minister Ünal Üstel emphasized its role as the political expression of the Turkish Resistance Organization, symbolizing the struggle for freedom and existence of the Turkish Cypriot people.
He stated, “Since October 11, 1975, UBP has confidently advanced into the future, leading the Turkish Cypriot community in its journey to becoming a state-owning people.”
Üstel characterized UBP as the party of the heroic Turkish Cypriot people, highlighting its strong ties with Türkiye.
He declared, “UBP is the advocate of a vision for a two-state solution,” ensuring the existence, sovereignty, and rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Reflecting on UBP’s proud history, Üstel noted how the party has consistently emerged stronger against attempts to undermine its unity.
He warned, “There are those who wish to diminish the strength of UBP, but as long as we stand together, no power can divide us.”
In conclusion, he expressed hope for the TRNC’s future, affirming that as long as UBP protects its unity and values, it will confidently advance toward a stronger future.
He extended his respects to the party’s founders and significant figures, including Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Dr. Fazıl Küçük, and Rauf Raif Denktaş.
