PM Üstel embarks on contacts in Baku

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for inviting President Ersin Tatar to the unofficial meeting of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) scheduled for July in the symbolic city of Shusha in Karabakh.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel who is in the Azerbaijani capital Baku upon an invitation by Tahir Budagov, Deputy Leader and Secretary-General of the New Azerbaijan Party, embarked on his contacts on Wednesday with a visit to the Martyrs’ Memorials.

Visiting the grave of the late President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, Üstel then proceeded to the Martyrs’ Alley where the January 20 Martyrs are commemorated, laying flowers at the graves.

Üstel also visited the Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Cemetery, accompanied by the TRNC Representative in Baku, Ufuk Turganer, and Azerbaijani MP Ramil Hasan.

Speaking to the press after the visit, Prime Minister Üstel reminded the press that a cooperation protocol had been signed between the ruling parties of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC some time ago.

Üstel said that his contacts in Baku will focus on enhancing cooperation between the three countries in the fields of economy, higher education, and tourism.

Prime Minister Üstel also thanked Azerbaijani President Aliyev for inviting President Tatar to attend the unofficial meeting of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) to be held in Shusha in July.

“We are very pleased with Aliyev’s invitation to President Ersin Tatar. I once again thank him for this wonderful invitation. I believe that our work within the OTS will be better and more efficient in the future, both economically and in terms of education, tourism, and cultural relations. We will further advance our ties,” he said.
