Prime Minister Ünal Üstel shared details about Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz’s two-day visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the projects they discussed, in a post on his social media account on Sunday.
“Turkish Vice President Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz paid a two-day working visit to our country. During the two days, we discussed our ongoing Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement, signed two new protocols, and held necessary consultations on the current stages of ongoing projects” the Premier noted.
“The initial transfers of resources from our Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement, which includes over ₺16bn, a record in terms of size, have been made. This is a highly important step for us” Üstel added.
“During this visit, we also signed a protocol that will allow the families of our martyrs and our veterans to benefit from significant social rights applied to martyr families and veterans in Türkiye” he explained.
“We signed a protocol that will allow our civilian citizens to benefit from the newly opened military hospital in Girne” Üstel noted.
“Thanks to our trust-based, result-oriented, harmonious, determined, and well-structured cooperation with Türkiye, we will complete all the unfinished projects in the country” the Premier stressed.
Stating that they discussed the current stage of the project to bring electricity from Türkiye via cable, Üstel said “The process is progressing. We are determined. It will definitely be implemented.”
“While we have completed some important roads, there are still road projects that are unfinished or yet to start, and we will complete all of them” he added.
“The most important of these are the Lefkoşa Northern Ring Road, Alsancak-Lapta Road, Girne -Çatalköy Road, and the Karpaz-Zafer Burnu Road. We will complete all of these” Üstel said.
“We have reviewed and initiated the unfinished hospital projects, and we will also complete these and open them for service” the Premier also noted.
Stating that they were continuing with school projects in education, Üstel said “We had set a target of 40 new schools. We have reached 18 in four years. Our goal is to continue working toward this target by 2027.”
“We are also working continuously on issues such as digitalization, e-government, fibre optics, faster internet, technology parks, and the goal of becoming an island of information technology. We have addressed these as well” he added.
“We are working on new steps to be taken for the stable and sustainable growth and development of sectors like tourism and construction” Üstel noted.
“We have taken, and will continue to take, important steps to ensure that our young people can take root in their own land, establish homes, find employment, become young entrepreneurs, and thrive in new and technological business environments where embargoes cannot be a hindrance” the Premier stressed.
“During the two-day period, in all the meetings we held with Turkish Vice President Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz and the delegations, we discussed all the topics that could be addressed to ensure the stable growth of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and its development into a self-sufficient and self-reliant structure” Üstel said.
“I had said that 2024 would be much better than 2023. Now, I am making a new claim: 2025 will be much better than 2024” he stressed.
Stating that the economic stability in Türkiye was strengthening every day, Üstel said, “Economic difficulties are gradually easing compared to the previous year. We will also see the positive reflections of this here. The future will be much brighter.”
“Of course, all these works and projects we have prepared can only be realized with the continuation of political stability in the country, the maintenance of relations with Türkiye based on mutual trust and harmony, and by working hard” he added.
“Therefore, we say: Continue with stability in power. No stopping we will keep working,” Üstel stressed.
“On this occasion, I would like to once again thank for their great support to our people, especially President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Vice President Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz, and all the delegations who participated in our meetings and contributed to our work” the Prime Minister added.
