Prime Minister Ünal Üstel on Thursday evaluated his contacts in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Emphasizing that relations with Azerbaijan are improving every day, Üstel described this as the first step taken by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in its journey to becoming a part of the world.

Üstel who is in Baku as guest of the Deputy Leader of the New Azerbaijan Party Tahir Budagov, described his contacts as extremely productive.

He said that the new friendships they established in Azerbaijan were the first steps of the TRNC’s entry into new geographies and its journey to becoming a part of the world.

Underlining that the cooperation protocol signed between the New Azerbaijan Party and the National Unity Party is a bridge for political, cultural and economic relations, Üstel said “Our relations with the New Azerbaijan Party, which we crowned with the cooperation protocol signed in 2023 after the preliminary talks that started in 2022, are progressing every day.”

He also said that the invitation extended to President Ersin Tatar by his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev to OTS summit in Shusha in front of the eyes of the world is the greatest indicator that the relations have reached the peak point.

He underlined that they are working on the road map to be put forward for the development of economic relations between the two countries and said, “At the same time, we have reached an agreement that these inter-party relations should not only remain between the top executives, but that this should also be reflected in the relations between the Women’s Branches and Youth Branches of our parties.”

Stating that he invited Tahir Budagov and government officials to the TRNC in order to discuss the work on the development of economic relations in the TRNC, the Prime Minister underlined that the relations will be discussed in all dimensions at the summit they will organize in the TRNC in the very near future.

“We are ready to march into the future as one heart with Azerbaijan, which we see as two states of a common nation” said Üstel.
