Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that they have started preparing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s (TRNC) 50-year development plan.

The premier, who came together with a group of youths in the capital Lefkoşa, touched upon the employment and housing problems experienced by young people and announced that they have started initiatives to create new jobs as well as a social housing project.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel on Sunday attended a youth gathering at the National Unity Party’s Lefkoşa Youth Branch where he listened to their problems.

Explaining that the government had been forced to deal with a variety of problems when it came to office, Üstel said despite the challenges they faced, they addressed the problems head on and took courageous steps to overcome economic, social and structural problems.

Emphasizing that they will entrust the TRNC to the youth, Üstel said, “We have seen captivity. We will never allow our youth to experience this. We cannot leave our youth without a homeland. Therefore, we will keep the TRNC standing and entrust them with a strong state.”

Referring to the call made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the UN for the international community to recognize the TRNC, Üstel said that becoming an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States was a significant development.

“I believe that our youth will be freed of all the embargoes imposed on the country in the near future and will have the opportunity to show that they exist in the world,” said Üstel.

Noting that they want to raise young people that are hard working, can produce their own ideas, compete with the world, are loyal to their state and defend their just cause to the end, Prime Minister Üstel said that they have started to prepare the TRNC’s 50th year development plan and aim to put forward a five year plan from 2027 to 2032.
