PM Üstel held high level contacts in Ankara, Türkiye

An agreement has been signed to bring electricity from Türkiye to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) via cable interconnecting both countries.

As part of his contacts in the Turkish capital, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel met with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Ministry’s Press Bureau, final preparations for the new Ercan airport which will be inaugurated on July 20 and the interconnectivity project that will work bi-directionally between the two countries were discussed during the face-to-face and inter-delegation meetings held at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.

Other infrastructural projects including the Maraş social housing project, the 500 bed hospital in Lefkoşa, the Girne and Güzelyurt hospitals, medical centres in Pamuklu and Lapta, water works and highways were also discussed during the meeting.

A bilateral agreement was signed between the two countries at the end of the meeting to launch the bi-directional interconnectivity project.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel returned to the Republic on Tuesday after completing his contacts in Ankara.
