Prime Minister and leader of the National Unity Party (UBP), Ünal Üstel visited Güzelyurt on Thursday to meet with residents and discuss the government’s ongoing and future projects.

Speaking at an event organized by the UBP, Üstel emphasized the necessity of political stability and determination for the completion of large-scale projects, asserting that the government possesses these qualities.

Üstel reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reform and support for productive sectors, promising to continue working tirelessly for the prosperity of the people.

He stressed the importance of stable governance in achieving these goals and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery and stronger infrastructure.

Üstel who was accompanied by his wife Zerrin Üstel, UBP Secretary-General Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, several ministers, and members of parliament underscored Güzelyurt’s special place in the heart of the UBP, pledging to continue addressing the region’s and the public’s expectations with steadfastness and commitment.

Highlighting several key projects and initiatives aimed at improving the infrastructure and economic prospects of Güzelyurt, Üstel proudly announced the completion of the Güzelyurt-Lefke Road, a project initiated in 2013 but stalled due to unstable governments.

He attributed the project’s success to the current administration’s stability and dedication to continuous service and infrastructure development.

Providing updates on the water supply project from Türkiye, Üstel stated that the final phase for the Güzelyurt region is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

This project, he added, will significantly benefit local citrus farmers and those engaged in agriculture, ensuring they have access to water from Türkiye.

The Prime Minister also assured that funding has been secured for the Güzelyurt Hospital project and promised that the hospital will be operational soon.

Emphasizing Güzelyurt’s reliance on citrus farming, Üstel claimed that the current government has provided unprecedented incentives to citrus growers. Üstel announced plans to distribute rural plots to young people in Güzelyurt’s rural areas and construct social housing for youth to encourage them to stay in their localities.

Furthermore, he highlighted initiatives to address employment issues by promoting large-scale projects in the region.
