Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a message on the 85th anniversary of the passing of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

According to the statement released by the Prime Ministry, Üstel noted in his message that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s greatest characteristic that made him a great leader and commander, who had his name Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk written in gold letters in history, was his infinite trust and belief in his nation.

Stating that the unity and solidarity arising from this belief was instrumental in the birth of the Republic, which celebrated its 100th anniversary, Üstel said “The Turkish Cypriot people have also been firmly attached to Atatürk’s principles and revolutions since those days, and after the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye, it has built its Republic on modern, secular and democratic foundations by crowning the struggle for existence on its own soil.”

“Today, our duty is not only to commemorate Atatürk, but also to carry our country forward by adhering to the modern vision he set forth. By preserving our unity and solidarity, we will overcome all difficulties and work hard to bring our country to a better tomorrow” said Üstel.
