Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that the light lit by Dr. Fazıl Küçük, who supported and led the Turkish Cypriot community during the most difficult years of struggle, continues to illuminate the Turkish Cypriot people’s path today.

In his message commemorating the late Turkish Cypriot leader, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that Dr. Fazıl Küçük, with his identity as a successful doctor, an impressive writer and statesman, who supported and led the Turkish Cypriot community during the most difficult years of struggle, continues to illuminate the path of the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle today.

Expressing gratitude to the struggle waged by Küçük, Üstel said, “Küçük’s leadership by organizing our community in the darkest periods of the Turkish Cypriot people will always be remembered by our people. His struggle to prevent the island of Cyprus from being annexed to Greece with the goal of Enosis and for the Turkish Cypriot people to have the opportunity to live as an equal and free society in these lands will never be forgotten.”
