Prime Minister Ünal Üstel congratulated members of the press who diligently perform their duties with dedication on the occasion of the July 11th Press Day.
Üstel expressed that the government’s support to the press workers will always continue.
In his message issued on 11th July Press Day, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that the Turkish Cypriot press has fought significant battles in every era, including the years of the national struggle, and has evolved and adapted to the requirements of the age.
“The importance of the press is significant in terms of reflecting a country’s democracy and freedom of thought. The power of the press emerges from enlightening, informing, and providing news to the people in the most unbiased and accurate manner possible. Thanks to the media, countries can preserve their democratic orders, stand on their own feet economically, and as a result, the expectations from the press of a society that questions and debates more increase,” he said.
Üstel added that in this regard members of the press had great responsibilities.
He said that they needed to fulfil their duties by collecting the most accurate, objective, and high-quality news in a more meticulous and careful manner and delivering them to the public,” he said.
Prime Minister Üstel also congratulated all press workers who perform their duties with dedication.
“I would like to express my happiness in always supporting and working together with our press colleagues. I extend my love and respect to all press members, wishing them a career filled with achievements,” he concluded.
