Prime Minister Ünal Üstel concluded his visit to areas in Türkiye affected by the earthquake disaster in Adıyaman.
Üstel laid a wreath at the site of the İsias Hotel where students, families and teachers from the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College perished after the building collapsed in the February 6 earthquake.
Accompanied by coalition partners, Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu and the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel laid a black wreath at the site where the İsias Hotel once stood in respect of the secondary school boys and girls volleyball squad from the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College which perished in the earthquake after the building collapsed.
He later paid a visit to the Governor and Attorney General in Adıyaman.
In a press conference after the visit, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that the Turkish Cypriot people were experiencing great pain and sorrow after the traumatic loss of life in the February 6 earthquake.
“The loss we experienced here at the İsias Hotel, the death of our champion angels is without doubt the greatest loss the TRNC has experienced this century. That is why the investigation being launched into the collapse of the hotel and its owners is extremely important,” he said.
Üstel added that the Turkish authorities had launched an investigation into the matter without delay and the TRNC government was following the process closely.
He said that the TRNC government was determined to pursue the matter to the very end.
Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel had visited the “Champion Angels” container city that is being set up with container homes being built in the TRNC.
