PM Üstel receives head of medical association

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, as part of week-long events marking March 14 Medicine Day, received the President of the Cyprus Turkish Medical Association, Ahmet Özant, and members of the board of directors.

According to information from the Office of the Prime Minister, the association’s president Ahmet Özant, presented a letter to Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, outlining the outstanding problems in the healthcare sector and proposed solutions.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, receiving the delegation reminded that he too came from the medical profession.

“We are in intense efforts to provide better healthcare services to our people. Since coming to government, we have been aware of the problems and have been tirelessly working to solve them one by one,” he said.

Üstel repeated an earlier announcement that a tender for the completion of the Güzelyurt Hospital will be launched next month allowing residents of the area to benefit from a modern hospital.

Furthermore, Üstel mentioned that preparations to install equipment at the Girne Hospital were underway.

He also stated that health centres will be established in Serdarlı, Maraş, Pamuklu, and Lapta.
