Prime Minister Ünal Üstel also received the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces Major General Osman Aytaç on Monday.

During the meeting, Üstel emphasized that the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces is always the guarantee of the Turkish Cypriot people in Cyprus.

Receiving the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces (GKK) Major General Osman Aytaç on Monday, Prime Minister Üstel highlighted that the Security Forces Command, its roots which date back to the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT), with its glorious history and patriotism, was always on duty with a sense of responsibility and is a constant guarantee for the Turkish Cypriot people.

“The Cyprus Turkish Security Forces, equipped with today’s technology and capabilities, has always been our assurance to secure peace on the island and ensure the safety of Turkish Cypriots. The presence of the GKK and all its affiliated institutions, along with the Turkish Peace Forces in Cyprus, are crucial and indispensable for the Turkish Cypriot people,” he said.

Üstel further stated, “With the strength and support we receive from mainland Türkiye, as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), we continue on our path without compromising on our policy based on the existence of two separate states on the island with equal sovereign status.”

He added that the Security Forces will continue to be one of our greatest assurances on the Turkish Cypriot people’s path for existence.

“The incident regarding the Pile-Yiğitler road and the adoption of the 2022 Türkiye Report in the European Parliament have once again demonstrated the justifiability of our cause and the pro-Greek Cypriot stance of the UN and EU. I would like to express my condemnation of both the European Parliament’s decision to portray the Republic of Türkiye as an occupier in Cyprus and impose a federal solution, as well as the biased attitude of the UN in Pile,” Üstel said.

For his part, the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces Major General Osman Aytaç said that the relationship and bond that exists between Türkiye and the TRNC are unparalleled.

“There is no better example of this. I am extremely proud to be appointed as the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces,” he said.
