Prime Minister Ünal Üstel is in good overall health and is expected to resume his duties shortly, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

The prime minister underwent a cholecystectomy, surgery for the removal of his gallbladder on Friday.

Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek and Professor Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan, Chief Physician at Near East Hospital where the prime minister had surgery provided updates on Prime Minister Üstel’s condition during a briefing with BRT.

After spending the night in intensive care, Prime Minister Üstel has been moved to a regular room, showing steady improvement.

Dr. Balkan confirmed that Üstel underwent successful gallbladder surgery and is recovering well.

Minister Dinçyürek added that the Prime Minister is expected to be discharged soon, given the swift pace of his recovery.
