Prime Minister Ünal Üstel visited the Lefke region.

Speaking during the visit Prime Minister Üstel noted that it has been one and a half years since President Ersin Tatar gave him the task of forming the government and that since they came to office they have been working hard to solve the deep-rooted problems that have been pending for many years.

He said they embraced this task head on and have been solving problems and implementing projects since.

Stating that they took into account the depreciation of the Turkish lira and gave an increase of nearly 100 percent to the employees in order to protect the purchasing power and will increase the cost of living to 3 times per year, Üstel said, “We will continue the special premium support to the private sector. We have also increased the salaries of social assistance recipients by 100 percent. We have aided every segment and we will continue to do so.”

He also stated that they will continue on their way in the new process initiated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and emphasized that they will continue to do better by working hard against those who do not want the TRNC State and its people to move forward.

“Our new policy in our national cause and our principle of a solution on the basis of two states is clear. The federation thesis is now over. There is a war next to us. The world is watching. We experienced the same pain, but we had our Motherland Türkiye by our side. On July 20, 1974, peace came to this island. Today Palestine has no guarantor. Israel attacks every day. It bombs hospitals. People are dying. They have nowhere to go, no water, no food” said Üstel.

Asking where the UN Security Council and the EU are in this war, Üstel noted that some people are still defending the federation, the EU without Türkiye, and diluting guarantees.

“We do not accept these. With the support of our motherland Türkiye, we will continue our journey of opening up to the outside world” said Üstel.

Also touching upon relations with the Organization of Turkic States, Üstel said that these are increasing day by day and that the importance of the historic visit to Azerbaijan will be better understood in the near future.
