Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has said that two major projects on the agenda had been shared with the public.

He said that one of these projects was the new Ercan airport project which will be inaugurated on July 20.

The second major project is the irrigation project which will supply water from Türkiye to the Güzelyurt plain in the coming days.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel on Wednesday shared the latest developments regarding ongoing projects during a visit paid to him.

Announcing that the new Ercan Airport will be inaugurated on July 20, Üstel reminded that work to introduce agricultural irrigation to the Mesarya region was also underway.

“At this point, we will have to lay a second water pipeline as one will not be enough to provide both water for daily consumption and agriculture,” the premier said.

Prime Minister Üstel also stressed that they were preparing to open a new chapter on energy.

“There are some who are already spreading speculation regarding plans to bring electricity to the TRNC from Türkiye via cable. We are ignoring these claims and will proceed on the path we know is right. We will act in line with the interests of our people and that means achieving interconnectivity with Türkiye, Üstel said.
